HARLAN — Harlan United Methodist Church will celebrate 163 years on Sunday, Sept. 19. The Heritage Day celebration will begin at 9 a.m. with church services and special music provided by Inspired 4, a Gospel quartet. A carry-in dinner will begin at 11:30 a.m., and an ice cream sundae bar will be open from 12:30-3:30 p.m., during an open house. AUBURN — Norris Chapel United Methodist Church will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry, Fishin’ for Missions, Friday, Sept. 24, from 5-7:30 p.m. The menu includes fish, baked beans, cole slaw, fries, dinner rolls, pies, cookies and drinks. Meals cost $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. The church is six miles east of Auburn at the intersection of C.R. 40A and C.R. 47. All proceeds will go to mission projects of the church.

FROM STAFF REPORTSLAGRANGE — Hundreds of people from Lagrange County churches and many local businesses will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world Sept. 18.Through a partnership with Minnesota-based Feed My Starving Children, volunteers will prepare 200,000 meals at Lagrange County 4-H Fairgrounds Exhibit Building, 1030 E.
