Marijuana in mail sends couple to jail

GARRETT — Tipped off by the U.S. Postal Service, police arrested two Garrett residents on drug charges Thursday after finding approximately one pound of marijuana and a loaded gun at their home.

Benjamin C. Hayes, 25, and Brytanne R. Hayes, 23, both of the 200 block of South Randolph Street, were booked into the DeKalb County Jail on charges of dealing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a youth program, a Class C felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony; neglect of a dependent, a Class D felony and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor, a news release said.
