CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s volleyball team has had a successful September so far, defeating several rival teams.

The Eagles defeated Columbia City in a 3-2 match, coming back from losing the first game 25-18.

Churubusco won game two 25-20, and game three 25-21. Columbia City came back in game four to win 25-23, but Churubusco finished off the match with a 15-7 victory in game five.

The Eagles went on to beat Eastside on Sept. 5, 3-0.

Churubusco won 25-12, 25-9 and 25-21, holding off a Blazer rally.

Madi Gaff led the Eagle attack with 12 kills. Hannah Boersema and Melanie Geiger added eight apiece.

Boersema also served up four aces. Bree Fulkerson led the team in blocks with two.

The Eagles downed Whitko 2-0 in an invitational on Saturday, 25-16, 25-21, but lost to Garrett in two games, 25-9, 25-16.

Churubusco faced another rival in Central Noble on Tuesday.
