PLYMOUTH — Churubusco’s Wyatt Johnson competed against the top golfers in the area last week at the Plymouth Regional at Swan Lake Golf Course.

Johnson finished with an 87 at the par 72 course.

The top three teams and top five individuals advanced to this week’s state finals.

Bishop Dwenger won the match with a 305, followed by Penn (307) and Warsaw (318).

Canterbury was fourth, Peru fifth, DeKalb sixth, Carroll seventh, Culver Academies eighth, Homestead ninth, South Bend St. Joe 10th and Columbia City 11th.

Columbia City’s Alex Hedrick scored a 75 to place as the fifth-best individual advancing without a team. Overall, the Columbia City Eagles finished 11th with a team score of 338.

Advancing as individuals were: Adam DeLong (Homestead, 72); Bailey Clark (DeKalb, 73); Kash Bellar (Peru, 73); Brandon Hansen (Kokomo, 74); and Alex Hedrick (Columbia City, 75).

The state finals were June 11 and 12 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
