Blessings in Angola

The Blessing Box at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 700 W. Maumee St., Angola, was well stocked on Sunday. The box is a ministry of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, allowing people to anonymously drop off nonperishable food products and those in need to take it as they need it. “We are currently seeing more frequent and generous donations of food to our blessing box,” said Patti Webster, administrative assistant at the church. “There have been a few times when there is no more room for food donations.” There is consistently food in the box but the coronavirus pandemic and quarantines have brought out the Samaritan in many locals. “People have a deep desire to be virtuous,” said Father Bob Showers. “May adversity bring out the best in us, never the worst.”
