GARRETT – The Garrett Heritage Days Miss and Master Contest is now open to participants. The annual fundraiser is open to children at least 18 months old, but not yet 6 years of age on July 31, 2019.
All contestants must live in the Garrett-Keyser-Butler school district to be eligible for the contest.
The Judy A. Morrill Recreation Center, Miller’s Market and Garrett State Bank on Cowen Street have been selected for the location to display canisters and collect votes. Parents of contestants must register at the Welcome Center at the JAM Center.
There is no deadline to enter the contest. Parents of the contestants should design their own canisters or tins with the child’s name and age, along with a picture or multiple pictures. There should be a total of three canisters made to be placed at each of the locations in town listed above. A parent’s name, address, and phone number should be on the bottom of the canister. Canisters should be the size of a coffee tin with a hole cut out on top to collect votes. Once completed, canisters may be taken to the locations for voting by the parent or a representative of the JAM Center will drop them off for the parent.
Votes may be cast by placing coins in the canisters, which will be counted as a penny a vote. Checks should be made out to Garrett Heritage Days Festival if you wish to vote by check.
Proceeds benefit the Garrett Heritage Days Festival.
All money will be picked up from the locations on July 2 at noon and taken to the Garrett State Bank to be counted. The money is turned over to Garrett State Bank anonymously. No money will be accepted after this time.
The winning Miss and Master will each receive $50. Second and third place will also be rewarded at $15 and $10, respectively. Winners will be announced at Heritage Days on the main stage on July 4, 2019.
Any questions can be directed to Carley McBride-Lowe at the JAM Center at 260-357-1917.
