New way to pay property taxes

The Steuben County Treasurer's Office is providing an additional way to pay your property taxes with a new drop box that's at the north entrance to the Steuben Community Center. The new box will allow taxpayers to access the box without having to leave their vehicles. People may also pay taxes, which are due Tuesday, through traditional methods: in person at the Community Center; at local banks, First Federal Savings Bank of Angola, Farmers State Bank and Farmers and Merchants State Bank; by mail, which must be postmarked by Nov. 12; or online at, which comes with a 2.5% fee. People using the box must deposit their payment by midnight Tuesday. Pictured with the new box are treasurers' staff, from left, Manda Kleberg, Treasurer Missy Bixler, Laura Surfus and Trish Sullivan.
