Greg Mendez installs new sculpture

(Pictured above) Alex Mendez, left, helps his brother Greg Mendez unload his newest sculpture that is on display for the next year in downtown Angola as part of the most recent Sculptures Angola installation. The brothers, both from Decatur, each had sculptures in the 2019 installation as well. Those pieces have been removed and Alex’s heart sculpture will be headed to the YMCA of Steuben County.

(Pictured on right) Alex, left, and Greg Mendez pose with Greg’s latest Sculptures Angola installation, Kometes, which was installed on the southwest quadrant of the Public Square on Tuesday. There will be two more sculptures installed on Friday morning in the northwest and southeast quadrants of the Public Square. The first sculpture to go in was on the northeast quadrant of the Public Square. The works will be on display for a year.

(Pictured below) Greg Mendez, right, uses a drill to make a hole in the concrete slab that his sculpture, Kometes, will call home for the next year so it can be secured to withstand being touched and the Indiana weather it will surely endure. He is being assisted by his brother, Alex Mendez.
