Huntertown’s Got Talent coming Sept. 6

Contestants and audience members are invited to Huntertown’s Got Talent on Friday, Sept. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the Huntertown Family Park amphitheater, 2114 Woods Road.

Registration forms are available at The cost to register is $10 per entry, to be collected the day of the event. Entries must be received by Aug. 31, and contestants must be present for dress rehearsal at 5 p.m. Sept. 6. Email any questions to

Contestants will compete in two age groups — 15 and younger, and 16 and older. Prizes in each age group will be $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. The overall winner will receive expense compensation for a trip to Louisville to try out for “America’s Got Talent” on Nov. 19. The prize is valued at $300.

Several other activities will be available at the park during the event.

Huntertown’s Well Grounded Cafe will sell coffee, beverages and snacks, and Cabin Fever Coneys will sell hot dogs for $1 and coney dogs for $2. Cookies from 7th Heaven Creations will be for-sale, with proceeds benefitting 7-year-old Aiden’s battle with cancer. Necklaces will also be for sale to support Carroll High School freshman Keke Shearer who is in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant.

The event will include a performance by former Miss Indiana and Miss America Talent Show winner Lydia Tremaine.

Girl Scout Troop 00208 will dedicate three buddy benches during the event. The benches will be given to Huntertown Family Park, Oak View Elementary School and Eel River Elementary School.

There will also be a raffle drawing the day of the event, for the chance to win a wooden chest handcrafted by local Huntertown woodshop craftsman Bill Morgan. Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20. You do not need to be present to win. All proceeds go toward growing the Huntertown Family Park.

Fairgrounds hosting Relay4Autism Fort Wayne

The Autism Society of Indiana will host a Relay4Autism noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2726 Carroll Road.

All participants will have an opportunity to participate in games, entertainment and the autism resource fair with more than 45 local providers serving the northeastern autism community. Come check out the balloon artist, face painting, local mascots, photo booth, food trucks, emergency vehicles, touch a truck, carnival games, relay and more.

“We want to show our support for the families in northeastern Indiana that are living with autism every day by giving them a day of fun and an opportunity to come together,” ASI northeast area support coordinator Susan Crowell said.

The event will raise money to support the ASI’s local northeast office that benefits those affected by autism. Event t-shirts will be available for a $12 each.
