To the editor:

I just wanted to say a quick thanks for the articles you wrote on the missing wakesurfer on Clear Lake.

We are long time residents at Clear Lake, and part of what is a very close knit community. In fact, we were up all week and witnessed the recovery efforts and the somber mood on the lake.

As a father of two sons (age 16 and 7), this is literally a family’s worst nightmare.

We’ve heard so many unverified rumors of how the event unfolded. I just thought your articles emphasized the family aspect of the lake, the simple facts, and how the community has embraced and supported both the grieving family and the first responders.

In an age where the media often tries to be the first and most sensational at reporting news, I thought your articles depicted how this special lake community is all grieving and mourning the loss of one of our own.

Thanks for your care in reporting such a sad and tragic event.
