It wasn't like everything was turning up roses, but the stench from the county-owned roadkill pit has faded. Steuben County Commissioners announced Monday that the pit used to dispose roadkill animals has been covered. Residents, many a distance away, had been complaining about the odor, especially during the recent heat wave.
