GOSHEN — West Noble’s Isaac Weimer (113 pounds), Shayne Tierney (145) and Kyler Brown (126) advanced from Saturday’s Goshen Regional to the New Haven Semistate.
Weimer and Tierney placed second in their respective weight classes at the regional, and Brown was third at 126. They all went 2-1 on the day.
At 113, Weimer (36-2) pinned Fairfield freshman Joseph Senn in 69 seconds in a first-round match, then won a 12-4 major decision over Lakeland freshman Ben Miller. But Weimer lost 3-1 to Angola’s Jett Boots in the championship match.
At 145, the junior Tierney (28-6) won a 12-1 major decision over Concord sophomore Brenden Stockman in round 1, then eked past Northridge senior Adam Hooley 4-3 in a semifinal match.
At 126, Brown (33-6) started his day by defeating Concord sophomore Erik Yeater 6-0. However, Brown lost to East Noble junior Blaine Malott 10-5 in overtime in the semifinals.
Brown recovered to win the third-place match by a 15-6 major decision over Fremont’s Isaac Hawkins.
Landon Roy (120), Gustavo Taylor (152) and Taylor Guzman (285) also qualified for the regional from West Noble. They were all pinned in first-round matches.
The New Haven Semistate will start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fort Wayne Memorial Coliseum.
