AHS defeats Chargers

ANGOLA — Angola defeated West Noble 59-41 in a Northeast Corner Conference game Saturday night.

The Hornets (16-4, 7-3 NECC) led 32-14 at the half.

Ten players scored for Angola, led by Joel Knox’s 16 points. Luke Honer had nine points, Brock Tingley scored eight and Jack Hilyard added seven points.

Trevor Franklin had 12 points on four three-pointers for the Chargers (9-11, 4-6). David Flores had eight points, and Bryan Bowman scored six.

Area players nominated for weekly award

Five area players were nominated for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Player of the Week award in District 1.

Central Noble senior guard Sydney Freeman was the lone area girls nominee. Area boys nominated were Cougar Ridley Zolman, West Noble’s Trevor Franklin, Fremont’s Tanner Behnfeldt and Hamilton’s Bailey Merritt.
