AUBURN — The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum will honor Laura Brinkman with a retirement celebration at the museum on Thursday, June 27, from 4-7 p.m.

Brinkman served as executive director of the museum from 2002-2018 and has worked overseeing special projects for the past year.

Her career of 41 years at the museum began when she was hired in 1978 as executive secretary. She later became manager of events, before rising to the positive of executive director in 2002.

“In an appreciative spirit, Laura’s long and distinguished career as a museum professional, community leader and loyal Auburnite will be honored,” the museum said in an announcement. “Come share with her your memories, maybe a photo or two, and lend your well-wishes for a happy and well-deserved retirement.”

The public is invited to the event. which will serve wine, beer and soda, accompanied by heavy hors d’oeuvres.

“Laura joins the handful of extraordinary women involved in the international world of classic automobilia and the history of preserving the work of the Auburn Automobile Co, and Duesenberg Inc.,” the museum announcement said.

Brinkman requests no gifts. Donations may be made to the museum in her honor.
