AUBURN — A DeKalb County Community Corrections employee injured himself in a firearms training accident Monday morning, the department reported.

According to a news release, Quentin Young, 36, accidentally discharged a semi-automatic pistol during a training exercise shortly after 7 a.m. Monday at the Auburn Police Department Training Center.

Young has been employed by community corrections for five years. Currently he is the department's pretrial services coordinator.

Staff members at the scene applied a tourniquet and administered first aid until the Auburn Fire Department and medics from DeKalb Health arrived, the news release said.

Young was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center at Fort Wayne, where he was treated and released.
