The middle section of the Eckhart Public Library fountain is lowered into place Wednesday as a crew from Smock-Fansler of Indianapolis work on the fountain’s installation. The fountain was removed last summer for storage in Alabama while repairs were made to its basin and plumbing. The fountain’s new basin is 6 feet wider in diameter than the previous basin, which had been leaking and was beyond repair. The pumps are expected to be installed by the end of today. A test run of the fountain will be conducted before it is closed down and winterized, said Chuck Knox, overseer of the project.
