Fire destroys rural Waterloo garage

Firefighters battle a garage fire Saturday night at 3283 C.R. 45, southeast of Waterloo. The Waterloo-Grant Township Fire Department was dispatched at 8:33 p.m. and brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, said Fire Chief Kirby Hobbs. No injuries occurred, and no one was at the home. “The three attached garages were a total loss, but we were able to stop the fire at the breezeway attached to the house, so no real damage to the home,” Hobbs said. Assisting at the scene were the Auburn, Butler, Corunna, Garrett, Hamilton and Ashley fire departments, Parkview DeKalb EMS, the Waterloo Marshal’s Department and DeKalb County sheriff’s deputies. The Angola Fire Department stood watch covering Waterloo’s fire station.
