Auburn firefighters battle blaze

In the midst of a snowstorm, Auburn firefighters pour water onto a blaze at a home at 1307 S. Van Buren St., Auburn, Monday night. The fire was reported around 8:19 p.m. Firefighters arrived at 8:22 p.m. to find flames coming through the roof from a fire in the attic space. Despite the weather and conditions, firefighters were able to extinguish the main body of fire quickly, bringing it under control at 8:40 p.m. The home sustained moderate fire and smoke damage. All occupants of the house escaped with no injuries. The fire is being investigated by the Auburn Fire Department. Auburn firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Garrett and Waterloo fire departments, Parkview EMS and the Auburn Police Department. The Butler Fire Department stood watch at Auburn Fire Station 1.
