New fire truck arrives

Grant Township officials stand in front of new engine 82 after its delivery earlier this month. From the left are Grant Township board member Todd Lockwood, township trustee Mary Dangler, former board member Ida Mae Hartman and board member Karen Bishop. Not shown is board chairman Jay Kern. Hartman and her late husband Glen were instrumental in acquiring the new engine — which was a year and a half in the making — in 2021. The fire truck was made by Spencer Manufacturing in South Haven, Michigan. It was brought to Waterloo by Fire Chief Kirby Hobbs and several others from the Waterloo-Grant Township Volunteer Fire Department.
