Library staff brings books back home

The last of 14,000 books arrives at Eckhart Public Library’s main building Thursday, completing a move of all items from the temporary location at Auburn Plaza in one day. A relay team of library staff members brought the final book by foot on the approximately one-mile journey. Vehicles carried the other 13,999 items. The staff is continuing preparations to reopen the main library at 603 S. Jackson St., Auburn. It has been closed since a devastating arson fire July 2, 2017. “This is such a hard-working staff,” said library director Janelle Graber, who holds the book. She said Thursday’s move “was planned and carried out flawlessly.” Read more about the library on page A6.
