DeKalb County 4-H’ers win at state fair

DeKalb County 4-H’ers won awards in the 2019 Indiana State Fair 4-H Rabbit Show on Friday and Saturday. The Indiana State Fair conducts the largest 4-H rabbit show in the nation with more than 1,300 rabbits entered. From left are Paige Fillenwarth, Best of Breed Havana with Junior Broken Buck; Nate Fillenwarth, Best of Breed Champagne d’Argent with Senior Doe and Best Opposite Sex with Havana Senior Blue Doe; and Abbigail Sexton, Best of Breed Checkered Giant Junior Buck, Best Opposite Sex Britannia Petite Senior Doe and Best Opposite Sex English Lop Intermediate Buck. Nate and Paige Fillenwarth are members of Jackson Blue Ribbons 4-H Club, where Paige has participated in the rabbit project four years and Nate six years. Sexton is a member of Cloverleaf 4-H Club and has been in the rabbit project three years.
